Abstract

The use of medical devices in the monitoring and treatment of diabetes mellitus has brought significant advances in the control of patients with diabetes. However, such devices are associated with adverse dermatological events, especially contact dermatitis. This condition, which has an inflammatory basis, can be allergic or irritant, affecting treatment adherence and the patient's quality of life. The objective of this study was to describe pathophysiological, clinical aspects and therapeutic strategies of contact dermatitis associated with the use of devices for the treatment of people with diabetes. This is a descriptive research, with a qualitative approach of the narrative review type of literature between the years 2020 and 2025. Advances in research into hypoallergenic materials and personalized medicine, including predictive genetic testing, open new perspectives for the individualized and safe care of patients with diabetes.
