Socio-spatial diversities are frequently studied and discussed within their respective fields. In the present article, we will analyze the relationship between socio-spatial inequality and public security in the state of Paraná, with special attention to the performance of the Military Police in vulnerable territories. Based on a theoretical review and critical analysis of recent studies, we discuss the territorial distribution of crime, the operational challenges for the Paraná Military Police, as well as the main coping strategies currently employed, proposing action plans and alternatives for more effective and citizen-centered police management.
