This article aimed to analyze how the adoption of such practices directly influences the optimization of logistics processes and the minimization of waste. To guide this understanding, the following research question is proposed: how can the implementation of best inventory management practices contribute to the reduction of logistics costs? To address this, a case study of exploratory nature was conducted, using a qualitative approach developed through a literature review and the application of a semi-structured questionnaire to a manager of a company in the industrial sector. The main results show that effective inventory management practices directly contribute to reducing logistics costs and improving business performance. Additionally, they highlight the importance of integration among departments, the use of technology, and constant inventory monitoring. It was also found that, although some simple measures are already being implemented, there is room for greater use of modern tools and performance indicators, which can lead to more precise control and better results. Thus, it is concluded that well-structured inventory management is essential for addressing logistical challenges and pursuing competitiveness in the current business environment.
