Abstract

The following paper reviews the literature on Broken Heart Syndrome, also known as Takotsubo Syndrome, with the aim of elucidating the causes that may lead to such illness and what points of attention may be needed to develop a positive or negative prognosis, assessing which correlated diseases directly condition the treatment and care process, and their prevalence. To achieve the objectives, a bibliographic review was carried out on articles in Portuguese, English and Russian published in the last 20 years. In understanding the emotional and physical impacts that may trigger this situation, it was also important to highlight the multidisciplinary means of care for the diagnosed patient.
