THE DEVELOPMENT OF OSTENSIVE POLICE ACTIVITY IN THE FACE OF THE DUALITY BETWEEN LEGAL ASPECTS AND DAILY PRACTICE

Abstract

Ostensive policing is fundamentally important in police activity. However, there are different approaches between theory and practice. This study aims to analyze how ostensive policing is developed, its influences and responsibilities, in order to identify differences between theory and practice. Through bibliographic and qualitative research, the results showed that there are significant differences between ostensive policing in theory and in practice. Furthermore, they indicated that a lack of performance in any sector can lead to system inefficiency. The study contributes to improving ostensive policing and helping public security policies to better understand the specificities involved in this type of policing, aiming to enhance both the quality of police work and public safety.
