This article addresses labor law in terms of the need for regulation of digital platforms and the differentiation of the nature of the employment relationship between platforms and employees. The platform economy is a growing phenomenon that provides new forms of markets in the digital platform environment, encompassing passenger transportation, delivery, shopping and online transaction applications, which operate based on rating and evaluation systems. However, the business model of these companies, based on flexibility and the absence of traditional employment relationships, has created a significant gap in the protection of labor rights, generating a global debate on the need for legislative regulation aimed at adjusting and improving current legislation, ensuring that it equally protects workers without compromising innovation and economic growth.
