The study addresses gender-based violence in the domestic and family context, which is a significant and complex challenge that affects a considerable number of women in our country. This research aims to analyze the role of the Public Defender's Office in assisting victims of domestic violence, highlighting its relevance in the enforcement of rights and in promoting access to justice. In this sense, the relevance of this academic work is evident, because the reality suffered by women has crossed time, centuries, however, the legal achievements that form a strong legal basis in protecting women are evident, including the effective participation of the entire state structure, as is noted in the role of the Public Defender's Office, as a body that grants democratic access to justice and protects the interests of vulnerable groups. The research adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach, based on a bibliographic review, seeking to consolidate knowledge from academic studies, books and jurisprudence. It is concluded that the Public Defender's Office plays a fundamental role in guaranteeing access to justice in a humanized and specialized manner, acting in all stages of the process, both in the civil and criminal spheres.
