The objective of this integrative review was to analyze the scientific literature on the role of nursing in obstetric emergency situations, considering the challenges, strategies, and practices adopted by professionals in the field. Articles published in health-related databases were searched without time restriction, and studies in Portuguese were included. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were adopted, using eligibility criteria that included only studies focused on nursing in obstetric emergencies. A total of six articles were deemed eligible for review. The results highlight the importance of professional training, effective communication, and the implementation of clinical protocols as key factors in ensuring quality care in obstetric emergency situations. Structural challenges faced by nursing teams were also identified, such as resource scarcity and the need for continuous training. The findings point to the necessity for investments in continuing education, adequate infrastructure, and public policies aimed at enhancing the value of obstetric nursing to ensure safety and effective care in women's health during emergencies.
