This research deals with the protective measure of institutional care for children and adolescents from the perspective of the Doctrine of Comprehensive Protection. Through Documentary Research, a survey was carried out on the public served by the 1st Childhood and Youth Court of the Capital, of the Court of Justice of Pernambuco, making it possible to outline and describe the profile of 46 children and adolescents in foster care, as well as their families. The issues involving the responsibilities of each sphere of power, the rights of children and adolescents who are under this protection measure and the consonance with the Doctrine of Comprehensive Protection were analyzed, all in accordance with the literature on this topic. It is hoped that this work can contribute to a better understanding and reflection on the contradictions that permeate the Institutional Reception of children and adolescents in the municipality of Recife – PE. Likewise, this work can serve as inspiration for other teams specialized in assisting children and young people, especially given the growing expansion of the phenomenon of institutional care.
