This study aims to deepen the understanding of criminal responsibility among individuals with mental disorders. Through a literature review, it seeks to analyze the relevance of an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to ensure justice and equity in the treatment of these individ uals by the judicial system. Research conducted on the Google Scholar and SciELO databases highlights the complexity of assessing criminal responsibility, which requires a careful look at both legal and psychological aspects. It emphasizes the need to ensure the protection of the fundamental rights of these individuals, such as dignity, health, and liberty. By synthesizing the main findings of the literature, this study contributes to the debate on the importance of public policies and judicial practices that promote restorative justice and the social reintegration of individuals with mental disorders.
