During the gestational period, several changes occur in the woman's body, including physiological changes, with the aim of ensuring adequate fetal development, which can cause adverse effects on maternal health. Among these possible complications, the main ones are hypertensive syndromes, which are important factors in maternal and perinatal mortality worldwide, in addition to being considered a risk factor for prematurity and fetal growth restriction. Therefore, to prevent such problems, it is essential that pregnant women have regular prenatal consultations, focusing especially on preventing complications from hypertensive syndromes. Even though the cause of these syndromes is unknown and their prevention is not fully understood, medicine is constantly updating its practices in this regard. Therefore, it is essential to analyze data on hypertensive syndromes and maternal mortality in order to identify risk groups and trends, enabling effective medical monitoring to reduce maternal and child complications.
