This article aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in the Southern region of Brazil, highlighting the main factors associated with the increase in reported cases. It is an observational, cross-sectional, quantitative, and descriptive study that used data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) concerning AIDS cases reported in the Southern region of Brazil, which comprises the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná, within the time frame from 2018 to 2022. During the analyzed period, 16,974 cases of AIDS were reported in the region. Of these, 30.5% were reported in the state capitals, 68.0% occurred among males, 70.2% were registered among individuals who self-identified as white, and 27.3% were within the 30–39 age group. In summary, the findings indicate that during the specified period, the Southern region of Brazil had a predominance of AIDS cases among males and individuals aged 30–39 years, aligning with national trends. However, in terms of ethnicity, there was a higher incidence among white individuals, which represents a distinctive risk factor for this region.
