Forensic dentistry plays a crucial role in the identification of individuals, especially in contexts such as mass disasters, charred bodies, or situations where official documentation is absent. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising tool in this field, offering significant advances in terms of accuracy, speed, and the automation of complex procedures. This systematic review evaluates the main applications of AI in forensic dentistry. The analyzed studies highlight the use of algorithms for interpreting dental records, radiographic images, dental arch analysis, and facial reconstruction techniques. The findings show that AI has the potential to revolutionize forensic dental practice, optimizing the human identification process. However, important challenges remain, such as the need for data standardization, ethical considerations in the use of these technologies, and the validation of their results in the legal context.
