Palliative care has been consolidated as an essential approach in the management of patients with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The integrative review carried out in this study aimed to investigate the benefits of early implementation of palliative care, as well as the challenges faced in its application. The analysis of several studies showed that the early introduction of palliative care contributes to the effective relief of physical and psychological symptoms, improves the quality of life of patients and provides emotional support for both patients and their caregivers. However, the review also identified significant barriers, such as the lack of specialized training among health professionals, the scarcity of integrated protocols and financial and cultural limitations in some contexts. The study reinforces the need for a multidisciplinary approach, continuous education of health professionals and the creation of public policies that promote the integration of palliative care in neurodegenerative diseases from the beginning of diagnosis. In addition, support for caregivers is crucial to avoid emotional and physical exhaustion, ensuring the continuity of quality care.
