This paper addresses the Law of Feminicide, which is a type of qualified homicide provided for in the Brazilian Penal Code, characterized by the murder of a woman motivated by her gender. This crime occurs when the perpetrator commits the homicide simply because the victim is a woman, adding an aggravating circumstance that classifies it as feminicide. This work explores the original concept of feminicide, analyzing its characteristics, the different types, and the contexts in which such crimes most frequently occur in today’s society. In addition, it highlights the importance of Law No. 13.104/2015, which brought significant changes in the way crimes against women are punished, especially those motivated by hatred, contempt, or gender discrimination by the aggressors.
