This study aims to examine the factors that contributed to the creation of military and civilian intelligence institutions in Brazil and around the world. We will also address the forms of action and the main mechanisms used by these bodies. Finally, the third part is dedicated to prison intelligence in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, and how the State aims to curb the areas of operation and expansion of criminal factions.
