This article sought to analyze the Prison System of Amazonas and its relationship with the process of social reintegration of prisoners, describing the profile of this system, identifying human rights violations in the units that form the state system and evaluating the process of social reintegration of prisoners based on public policies implemented in the Amazonas context. The study is based on the precepts of qualitative research that goes beyond the cold and limited analysis of quantitative data, taking into account the context and elements of human experience and living. Therefore, as a methodological procedure, data collection was based on bibliographic research using the databases of the CAPES Periodicals Portal, the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Database, the Citizen Information Service and the Information Service of the National Secretariat for Penal Policies (SENAPPEN). The main results indicate that from the point of view of public incarceration policies, the Amazonas prison system has advanced, but still has some points that can highlight the serious and difficult reality of the conditions of incarceration and social reintegration of prisoners and ex-prisoners, of the violations of human rights within the Amazonas prison, as well as the unequivocal structural deficiencies in administrative management historically repeated in the local penitentiary system.
