The article aims to analyze the beginning of international relations between Brazil and China, highlighting the direct consequences of this partnership in the Brazilian economy. The first contacts took place in the nineteenth century, focusing on commercial exchanges. Since 2013, relations have been strengthened, mainly in the strategic and economic areas, with both countries joining BRICS and sharing common interests in sustainable development, trade and investment. China became Brazil’s largest trading partner in 2010 and, in 2013, the relationship was elevated to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership", resulting in the signing of several trade agreements, as cooperation in issuing electronic certificates for agricultural products and animal protein. In the technology sector, the joint development of the CBERS-6 satellite stands out. Agreements were also signed in the areas of research, innovation, digital economy and space. Currently, China accounts for more than 20% of imports and one third of Brazilian exports. In 2023, agreements were signed to allow direct exchanges between the lira and the yuan, which will further boost business between the two countries. The question that remains is: how long will this partnership be advantageous for both sides?
