This article sought to analyze how financial dependence interferes with the decision of women in situations of domestic violence to request protective measures against their aggressors. To this end, an interdisciplinary approach between Law and literature was carried out, based on Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon by Jorge Amado, in order to understand the historical and social barriers that hinder female autonomy and the search for legal protection. The research developed a qualitative methodology, based on a bibliographic review of legal, sociological, and literary texts, as well as the analysis of the aforementioned work. The results indicated that economic dependence limits victims' ability to break the cycle of violence, making them more vulnerable and hindering access to protective measures. Furthermore, it was observed that the effectiveness of these measures is compromised by institutional, cultural, and social factors that perpetuate gender inequalities. It is concluded that, to ensure greater security and autonomy for women, it is essential to strengthen public policies aimed at their financial independence and the improvement of protection mechanisms, promoting social transformation and the eradication of domestic violence.greater security for women, promoting a consistent, ethical, and effective approach to combating the non-consensual exposure of intimate content.
