This article examines the need to modernize police interview practices used in administrative procedures carried out by the Military Police of Paraná. In a scenario where efficiency and transparency are increasingly valued values, compliance with interviews and the accuracy of the information obtained from them play a central role in the smooth functioning of the corporation's duties. In opposition to traditional procedures, which are often limited and restricted only to obtaining confessions, without effective conduct, the article proposes an evidence-based approach, especially the Cognitive Interview and the PEACE protocol. Accordingly, the new practice is capable of improving both the quality and volume of data obtained. The article aims to report the importance of careful interview planning, respect for the interviewee and active listening and investigation techniques in order to stimulate memory and organization of facts. The article also details the need for a collaborative stance by the military police, seeking objective and impartial reports, always maintaining the ethical values that govern the Military Police.
