This article aimed to analyze hospitalizations for osteomyelitis in the state of Tocantins between 2014 and 2023, using data extracted from the Hospital Information System of the SUS (SIH/SUS). The objective was to identify morbidity patterns, distribution by age group and sex, as well as to assess the costs associated with hospitalizations. The methodology consisted of a retrospective epidemiological study, utilizing secondary data from hospital admissions. The main findings showed that osteomyelitis had a higher prevalence among males, with the age group of 30 to 39 years being the most affected. Palmas was the municipality with the highest number of hospitalizations, which can be attributed to its better healthcare infrastructure and population concentration. Regarding costs, a significant increase was observed in years with a higher number of hospitalizations, highlighting the relationship between healthcare burden and SUS expenditures. It is concluded that, although hospitalizations show annual variations, it is essential to implement preventive strategies and improve access to treatment, especially in municipalities outside the capital, to mitigate the impacts of osteomyelitis on the state public health system.
