THE ROLE OF THE POLICE DESIGNATED SHOOTER IN THE DUTIES OF THE MILITARY POLICE

Abstract

The objective of this study was to better understand the role of the designated police marksman in the context of the duties of the Military Police and what differentiates them from the police sniper. This was a descriptive and qualitative study, developed through bibliographic research. The results showed that military corporations have recently been training part of their personnel for the designated police marksman mission as one of the recommended tools to combat criminal actions that have become increasingly specialized in terms of weapons and actions that involve, among other modalities, violent crimes, robberies with explosions and actions against property. The main indispensable attribute of the designated police marksman is to make it possible to achieve the safety of those involved in the operation, military police officers and other individuals, increasing the chances of success in the missions. It can be concluded from the analysis carried out that the use of the designated police marksman (ADP) is very important for the success of the missions and for improving the operational capabilities of the Military Police of Paraná.
