This work, entitled “The actions of the Highway Police Battalion in monitoring the main causes of accidents, injuries and deaths in traffic”, seeks to identify the six main areas of action of the Highway Police Battalion (BPRv): drunkenness, speed, overtaking, seat belts and car seats, motorcycles and cell phone use. The objective is to promote road safety, in line with the National Plan for the Reduction of Traffic Deaths and Injuries (PNATRAS), which prioritizes reducing the number of accidents and deaths in traffic through targeted and planned actions. The document highlights the social and economic impacts of accidents, which result in family suffering, hospital overload and high costs. In 2022, this value exceeded R$300 billion in Brazil, reflecting the urgency of more effective measures. Thus, the work proposes actions based on the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) and CONTRAN resolutions, aiming not only to reduce the frequency of accidents, but also to mitigate their consequences. The proposals emphasize the specialization of inspection agents and the efficient use of available resources, contributing to the improvement of traffic safety.
