The Public Security landscape in Brazil presents significant challenges for law enforcement agencies. With duties and responsibilities defined by the legal framework, each institution plays a crucial role in different phases of police activity, whether in prevention, repression, or investigation. Organized crime has expanded beyond local domains, engaging in illicit activities in other regions and even across international borders, making isolated efforts ineffective without the sharing of data and intelligence. In response to the need for integration and a coordinated approach to combating organized crime, the SULMaSSP initiative was created. Its name is an acronym representing the southern states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul, along with São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. The actions of SULMaSSP have already proven effective through legislative advancements and coordinated joint operations, delivering impressive results. This reinforces the idea that integration is a powerful tool in the fight against organized crime.
