THE PERCEPTION OF FAKE NEWS BY SERVANTS WORKING AT THE COURT OF JUSTICE OF PERNAMBUCO

Abstract

Fake news is false or distorted information spread intentionally to mislead or manipulate public opinion. They can spread rapidly through social networks, generating misinformation, damaging rewards and even social conflict. In recent years, the spread of fake news has become a cause for concern in various spheres of society, including the public sector. In the context of the Judiciary, the spread of false information poses a serious threat to the integrity of judicial decisions and the public's trust in institutions. With the advance of communication technologies, especially through social networks and messaging apps, fake news spreads quickly and uncontrollably, generating negative impacts in key areas such as politics, the economy and justice. The aim of this dissertation was to analyze the perception of fake news by civil servants working for the Court of Justice of the State of Pernambuco and the areas affected by disinformation. The methodology used was a literature review and an empirical survey applied to employees of the Court of Justice of Pernambuco. The main results were that fake news is a social and political phenomenon that seeks to sow disinformation, fear and undermine democratic institutions, which is exacerbated by the advent of the internet, which makes its reach incalculable by crossing any geopolitical boundaries. Society is constantly bombarded by this untrue news and, although the Brazilian Constitution guarantees freedom of expression, within the limits of the law, fake news goes beyond any legal limits, as it is nothing more than camouflaged disinformation, created with the intention of defaming, confusing, causing panic, affecting society in the sanitary measures adopted, in the exercise of politics and in the democratically constituted powers.
