The scenario of human rights violations against women is a frequent subject of debate in all spheres of government in Brazil. Thus, it is always necessary to create mechanisms to combat and repress the violence that women suffer daily. Therefore, the general objective of this research is to discuss Brazilian legislation on combating violence against women. The methodology presented in this work is a bibliographic review based on works that address this discussion as a central theme. It is clear that the challenge of gender equality persists as a painful reality, requiring coordinated actions by governments and civil society. Although there are legislative advances and community intervention programs, the intersectionality between gender, race and social class continues to put women at a disadvantage, particularly evident in the persistence of domestic violence. Measures such as protection orders play a crucial role in protecting victims, but continued efforts are needed to ensure their effectiveness and access. Ultimately, only through collective and persistent efforts, combined with a holistic approach that is sensitive to the specific needs of communities, can we move towards truly egalitarian societies free from gender-based violence.
