Artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized the practice of pediatric radiology by providing advanced tools for the analysis of medical images, allowing for greater diagnostic accuracy and reduced errors. This article reviews the benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of AI in pediatric radiology based on recent studies. The main benefits include improved early detection of pathologies, optimization of clinical workflows, and reduction of radiation exposure in pediatric patients. However, challenges such as the need for rigorous clinical validation, ethical issues related to the use of sensitive data, and the impact on the professional practice of radiologists continue to be significant obstacles. Despite these limitations, continued advances in deep learning algorithms and collaborative integration between AI and radiologists can transform pediatric radiology into a more efficient and patient-centered practice.
