Barra do Garças, which has transformed from a mining center into a dynamic economic hub, has a base sustained by agriculture, commerce and tourism. Commerce has modernized and diversified tourism attracts visitors, generating jobs and increasing local income, consolidating the city as a highlight in the Araguaia Valley. The objective of this work is to analyze the local development of the municipality, identifying its main benefits and challenges, aiming to propose strategies for the economic, social and environmental strengthening of the region. The methodology adopted was the case study, using a quantitative approach for the analysis of statistical data and a descriptive approach for the presentation of the current situation of the city, identifying problems and proposing solutions. Despite economic growth, infrastructure and basic sanitation present challenges that compromise sustainable development, as well as transportation problems and public road conditions, affecting mobility and health, especially in peripheral areas.
