THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY BY THE PARANÁ MILITARY POLICE: INNOVATIONS AND IMPACTS ON POLICING EFFICIENCY

Abstract

The Military Police of the State of Paraná plays an important role in promoting the safety of the state's population. Technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) have been contributing to this situation. The objective of this article was to analyze how the technology implemented by the Military Police of the State of Paraná impacts the efficiency of policing. This is a descriptive literature review, through consultations of materials already published and made available in specific databases and other publications. As can be seen from the information mentioned, it was possible to infer that the integration of AI and IoT technologies, such as license plate recognition cameras, the DETECTA system, the Olho Vivo Program, and facial recognition cameras, demonstrates that the integration of these technologies has proven to be a milestone in optimizing the actions of the Military Police of the State of Paraná, as well as of all Public Security. These technologies, by processing significant volumes of information in real time, tend to improve the capacity for assessment, analysis, and monitoring, which makes it possible to recognize behaviors and patterns of suspicious situations effectively. The results demonstrate important benefits, as there is greater operational efficiency, increased use of resources, agility in preventing and combating crime, and optimization of policing in cities. Therefore, it is possible to mention that the technology currently present in the Military Police in the State of Paraná has been contributing significantly to policing and combating crime.
