Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a prevalent and potentially serious condition, and antibiotic treatment is essential for its resolution. However, inadequate adherence to prescribed therapy compromises treatment efficacy, contributing to increased morbidity, mortality, and antimicrobial resistance. This study aimed to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical factors associated with adherence to antibiotic treatment in patients with CAP, through an integrative literature review. Articles published between 2018 and 2023 in the PubMed, Scopus, and SciELO databases were included, using descriptors related to treatment adherence and CAP. The results showed that factors such as age, educational level, social support, disease severity, and comorbidities significantly influence adherence. Strategies such as simplifying the therapeutic regimen and personalized guidance have proven effective in improving adherence. The analysis highlights the need for targeted and individualized interventions to promote treatment adherence, aiming to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the burden of CAP.
