Abstract

The Brazilian prison environment presents numerous precarious conditions that make it difficult for inmates to resocialize, such as overcrowding, lack of hygiene and a shortage of trained professionals to work in this context. This study highlighted the importance of applying the principles of the Unified Health System in the prison environment, promoting greater inclusion and effective care for those re-educated. Given this, the research aimed to evaluate the impacts of multidisciplinary intervention on health promotion and disease prevention in prison populations, aiming to improve the quality of life and well-being of those re-educated. This was a field study and, to achieve the proposed objectives, data collection was carried out through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire. To carry out the analysis of the data obtained, the Content Analysis method was used. The results presented highlighted the positive effects of the multidisciplinary team's work in the prison context, making it possible to verify that the implementation of these strategies contributed significantly to the transformation of health conditions in the penitentiary system, favoring the rehabilitation and social reintegration of those re-educated.
