This article sought to analyze the manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of Endometriosis. This pathology is a chronic gynecological disease characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, causing inflammation, pelvic pain, and infertility. Although some cases are asymptomatic, symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, dysuria, fatigue and abdominal pain are common, and atypical manifestations may also occur in extra-pelvic areas, such as the diaphragm and abdominal wall. The complexity of the disease and its variability of symptoms make early diagnosis difficult, traditionally performed through invasive histopathological examinations. Currently, non-operative methods, such as transvaginal ultrasound, have accelerated the diagnosis and also facilitated the start of treatment. The management of endometriosis is multidisciplinary and may include hormonal control, anti-inflammatories, analgesics and, in severe cases, surgery to excise the lesions. This approach seeks to relieve pain and preserve fertility, promoting a better quality of life. Advances in understanding pathogenesis and individualizing treatment are essential to improve therapeutic options and reduce the health and economic impacts of endometriosis. The need for more research is evident, aiming at more effective strategies for early diagnosis and management of this pathology that affects millions of women in the world.
