The aim of this study was to investigate the main pharmacotechnical adjustments in pediatric emulsions with the aim of improving the safety, efficacy and acceptability of these drugs. The methodology adopted was an integrative literature review with an exploratory, qualitative and descriptive approach, covering publications from 2020 to 2024 in the VHL, Google Scholar, Science Direct and PubMed databases. After an initial search that identified 402 studies, 31 were evaluated in depth, resulting in the selection of 12 articles directly related to the research objectives. The main findings highlighted the use of lipid emulsions, particularly in parenteral nutrition, with benefits in neonatal growth and metabolic stability. The analysis also revealed the importance of dose adjustment, the choice of excipients to improve palatability, and the suitability of dosage forms for pediatric needs. Limitations include the reduced stability of extemporaneous formulations and the lack of standardization in handling methods. It is concluded that standardized protocols and technological advances, such as encapsulation, can strengthen the safety and efficacy of pediatric emulsions, promoting greater adherence and therapeutic success.
