Abstract

This study aims to analyze virtual crimes and the measures that victims can adopt to protect and defend themselves against such offenses. Specifically, it focuses on the most common digital crimes in the online environment and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD – Law No. 13.709/2018), highlighting it as a preventive tool against these crimes. The research adopts a bibliographical and qualitative approach, emphasizing the historical and legal analysis of Personality Rights, which allows for a discussion of key concepts related to the subject. From this perspective, practical examples and preventive measures are presented in an accessible way, not only to specialized audiences but also to the general public, particularly individuals who engage in social media and other digital platforms, frequently exposing their personal data. Thus, the work assumes an academic, informative, and preventive character, aiming to guide internet users on the risks and precautions necessary in the digital environment, especially those who expose themselves daily through their social media profiles.
