This article sought to describe the role of nurses in the prevention of syphilis in pregnant women Methodology: This is a study with a descriptive, qualitative approach, using the integrative review method. Results and discussion: the reviews of the articles indicate that the work of nurses, associated with structural support and training policies, is essential for the improvement of maternal and child health indices. Nurses promote discussion spaces and actively work for the prevention and treatment of congenital syphilis, reinforcing the importance of intersectoral and collaborative action for the development of more effective and integrated care. Conclusion: The effectiveness of prevention, therefore, depends on an integrated approach, in which nurses have not only technical skills, but also competencies to promote humanized care, creating an environment of trust with pregnant women and their families. Another fundamental aspect for the control of gestational syphilis is adherence to treatment by pregnant women and their partners. The literature highlights that resistance to treatment is a significant challenge, often associated with cultural barriers, social stigma and lack of information.
