Gestational hypertension and pre-eclampsia are significant causes of maternal and child morbidity and mortality, and can result in serious complications if not detected early. This study addresses the role of nurses in the early identification of these conditions during prenatal care. Objective: To analyze the role of nurses in Primary Health Care (PHC) in the early detection of gestational hypertension and pre-eclampsia, highlighting strategies to prevent maternal-fetal complications. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review carried out in databases such as VHL, SciELO and LILACS. 26 relevant articles and guidelines published in the last ten years were analyzed. Results: The study revealed that systematized and humanized prenatal care makes it possible to identify risk factors early, improve maternal and fetal outcomes and prevent serious complications. The nursing consultation proved to be essential for clinical monitoring, complementary exams and guidance for pregnant women.
