The growth of the Brazilian prison population includes a significant increase in incarcerated women, a vulnerable group facing health deficiencies and rights violations. This study addresses the role of nurses in promoting the health of this population, using a systematic literature review to analyze 22 articles published between 2019 and 2024. The results highlight three main areas of action: health education, comprehensive and humane care, and advocacy for rights. Health education is crucial for the prevention of STIs and family planning; care emphasizes inadequate conditions and rights violations; and advocacy stresses the need to ensure access to healthcare and dignity. It is concluded that professional training, public policies, and the humanization of the prison system are essential for effective action.
