This article sought to identify the influences of digital media on the conception of body image and its relationship with eating disorders. Through a search in the databases, the articles found went through a filtering process using the inclusion and exclusion criteria that allowed articles of greater relevance to be selected for this research. The results found demonstrate that social networks promote unattainable aesthetic ideals, encouraging constant comparison and body dissatisfaction, especially among adolescents. Frequent exposure to idealized bodies on Instagram and YouTube, in addition to standards of perfection on Facebook, creates unrealistic expectations about body image. In summary, the influence of social media on the perception of body image and the development of eating disorders is a complex phenomenon that demands a comprehensive approach and collaboration from different sectors of society.
