Obesity has become one of the main public health challenges in recent decades, leading to an increase in demand for effective interventions to treat more severe cases. In light of this, bariatric surgery has been highlighted as a safe and effective technique for treating obesity, when combined with lifestyle changes, and is widely indicated for patients with morbid obesity. This study aims to analyze the literature, the challenges faced by patients in the postoperative period of bariatric surgery, as well as the relevance of the support of the multidisciplinary team in promoting a successful and sustainable recovery. To this end, an analytical and exploratory approach was carried out, of a qualitative and quantitative nature based on a literature review of articles taken from platforms such as: BVS, Pubmed and Scielo, in publications in Portuguese and English. Data collection sought an in-depth understanding of the physical, emotional and social factors that impact the post-operative experience, highlighting how the support of a team made up of nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and other professionals is essential to ensure comprehensive care and promote a healthy weight loss process. The results collected aim to contribute to the improvement of care practices in order to offer more humanized and effective care, and to encourage the adoption of multidisciplinary approaches in the treatment of obesity.
