Neonatal jaundice is a common condition that affects many newborns, characterized by yellowing of the skin and mucous membranes due to the accumulation of bilirubin. Appropriate treatment is essential to avoid complications such as kernicterus. The study aims to analyze the role of nursing in the management of neonatal jaundice, highlighting the importance of early identification and appropriate treatment. This is a qualitative bibliographic research, with analysis of scientific articles on nursing care in newborns with jaundice. Sixteen articles published between 2020 and 2023 were selected. The results indicate that the role of nurses in screening, monitoring, and administering phototherapy is crucial for the success of the treatment. Continuous training of nursing professionals is essential to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. Family guidance is also an important part of care, reducing anxiety and improving adherence to treatment. In addition, it was identified that strict monitoring of bilirubin levels and early intervention are crucial to avoid serious complications and accelerate the recovery of newborns. It is concluded that the role of nurses in monitoring newborns with neonatal jaundice is essential to prevent serious complications, such as kernicterus, and to reduce the length of hospital stay.
