Arterial hypertension is part of the spectrum of extremely recurrent pathologies, presenting characteristics that make it an important risk factor for comorbidities and predisposition to mortality, generating a major public health problem and medication costs. In order to ensure the well-being of this population and a reduction in diseases associated with high blood pressure, continuous monitoring of blood pressure is necessary, associated with adequate medication prescription. The objective of this study was to analyze the benefits of using losartan in patients with hypertension and what its protective factor is in hypertensive kidney patients. The present work was carried out through descriptive bibliographic review research, using data from electronic texts such as articles, books, monographs, working magazines, on websites such as Scielo, Lilacs, Google Scholar, Pubmed and government agencies. The analysis of the research data was carried out using a quantitative approach, concluding that the antihypertensive prescription profile of the hypertensive population shows a prevalence of the use of losartan in comparison to other hypertensive drugs available on the market, which confirms the advantages of using these medications.
