This article will analyze the use of the absolute isolation technique in the quality of dental restorations, highlighting its advantages and disadvantages. Scientific articles, books and specialized compendiums in the area of dentistry were reviewed to address the topic. The results of the research indicate that absolute isolation can be considered an indispensable aid in the correct execution of dental therapy. Although many professionals contest its use, alleging the cost and time spent, the advantages resulting from its application fully justify its use, since it contributes to asepsis, prevents the ingestion or aspiration of materials used during the procedure, improves the visualization of the surgical field and eliminates interference from soft tissues, allowing the procedure to be performed with total safety, contributing to the quality of dental restorations.
