Abstract

Introduction: Women's health goes beyond topics that encompass only those related to obstetrics or reproduction, and should include, in addition to physical well-being, mental and emotional health. Women represent more than 50% of the Brazilian population and, among them, 63.8% correspond to the female population of childbearing age (MIF), in the age group between 10 and 49 years. Therefore, it goes far beyond gynecological and reproductive treatment; many psychological issues are also involved, which is why it should be treated comprehensively, with a humanized approach. Objective: to identify in the literature which nursing actions are offered to promote the strengthening of the health of women of childbearing age. Methodology: this study is an integrative review of the literature, based on the following guiding question: to know which nursing actions are offered to promote the strengthening of the health of women of childbearing age? Data collection took place in July and August of the same year, through the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, using the descriptors health sciences (Decs), women's health, childbearing age, and women's health nursing. The inclusion criteria were: articles published between 2020 and 2024, articles available in Portuguese for free, and articles that are available in full. Duplicate articles, articles in Spanish, monographs, incomplete articles, and dissertations were excluded. After data collection, they were analyzed and compared with the relevant literature. Although this study was not submitted to the Ethics and Research Committee, as it is an integrative literature review, it followed the principles of ethics and bioethics. Results and discussions: Women's health must be comprehensive, extending to maternal and child care and certain problems in the reproductive phase, and encompassing the entire life cycle in its different phases. In this scenario, nurses need to offer comprehensive care that is not restricted to curative practices, covering women at all levels of care and considering their social, family and cultural context. Therefore, promoting direct and comprehensive care for the health of women of childbearing age, acting on various issues related to all stages of women's lives, recognizing their rights, such as quality family planning and assistance in maintaining health and preventing diseases. Conclusion: above all, promoting women's health is of utmost importance, and evidence-based practices must be offered, which is essential to ensure the quality and safety of care provided by the nursing team, and to improve the health outcomes of patients.
