INTRODUCTION: Polytrauma is a severe multiple injury to the body, in two or more different regions, which can affect vital organs and various systems. Care for polytrauma patients is linked to the adequate management of body structures, with emphasis on immobilization techniques; skin repair and maintenance treatments; medication management and pain control; monitoring of physiological systems. OBJECTIVES: To understand the nursing care provided to patients with polytrauma. METHODOLOGY: This is an integrative literature review, which was carried out in the Bdenf, Lilacs and Scielo databases; using regulated health descriptors: multiple trauma, trauma and nursing care. The transition was made with the Boolean operator AND. The sample consists of all articles that meet the following inclusion criteria: studies that present the referred theme; full text available in Portuguese, English and Spanish, published between 2019 and 2024; those that are presented in duplicate being excluded. The data were arranged in tables with the following variables: title, author, year, journal, objective, methodology and results, and were analyzed using the relevant literature. Since this is a research journal, approval by the research ethics committee is not required. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: It reports important scientific evidence on nursing care for polytrauma, thus increasing the knowledge of nursing professionals. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: The reviewed studies point to the importance of nursing for polytrauma patients in in-hospital and out-of-hospital care, with the care provided throughout the process being of utmost importance, from first aid to discharge.
