Abstract

A harmonious facial presentation, with appropriate aesthetics and post-treatment balance, are essential to the success of any orthodontic treatment. The professional's goal should be to achieve these results, considering a realistic treatment plan to be implemented, which does not interfere with tooth movement and at the same time has the minimum side effects. Currently, MIs are an option that presents greater effectiveness in absolute anchorage, with the least discomfort for the patient. The objective of the research is to deepen, through a literature review, the knowledge about the effectiveness of MIs in maxillary intrusion. The work is a literature review, of a descriptive and qualitative nature, for which a search for articles was carried out in the databases: BVS, Lilacs and Google Scholar, in the period between 2010 and 2023. The result that the research reached was that the use of the mini implant in maxillary intrusion represents an innovative and effective approach, expanding the therapeutic possibilities in orthodontic practice. With the advancement of techniques and the growing acceptance by patients, it is expected that this tool will continue to evolve, contributing to faster orthodontic treatments and satisfactory aesthetic results.
