Abstract

This paper examines the importance of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) from a nursing perspective, highlighting the role of these professionals in encouraging and supporting the practice. Based on a literature review (2020-2024), the benefits of EBF for the health of mother and baby and the difficulties that mothers face are discussed. The study highlights the use of educational materials and the role of nursing in different contexts, such as hospitals and communities, to adapt interventions to maternal needs. It also emphasizes the relevance of public policies to increase adherence to EBF. The research concludes that nursing is essential not only in the technical aspect, but also in creating a welcoming environment to support mothers, consolidating EBF as a fundamental public health practice.
