This article analyzes the obligation of child support as a fundamental right, essential for ensuring the subsistence and holistic development of children and adolescents. Referencing authors such as Maria Berenice Dias and Paulo Lôbo, it argues that the obligation of child support encompasses not only food but also health, education, and leisure, as established by the Federal Constitution of 1988. The text highlights the difficulties faced by the judicial system in enforcing these obligations, demonstrating that many debtors manage to evade payment, thereby harming the beneficiaries. It discusses the classifications of child support and the legal procedures for enforcement, underscoring the need for reforms. To improve the effectiveness of collecting child support debts, the article proposes measures such as including debtors in delinquent registries and imposing restrictions on rights, aiming for a more effective approach. It concludes that adopting these measures is crucial for safeguarding the rights of beneficiaries and ensuring a dignified development for children and adolescents.
