Abstract

The present research aimed to present the institute of sentence remission, provided for in the Criminal Executions Law (Law nº 7210/84) and in Resolution nº 391/2021 of the CNJ, with the aim of explaining the benefits, through bibliographical research, that this means of social reintegration can bring to society, reducing recidivism rates and increasing the percentage of resocialization. Thus, reports were used that narrated the lives of former inmates who moved away from crime, because while in the system, they had access to opportunities for legal occupations. Finally, the desired result is that this project will be able to demonstrate to readers the magnitude of the topic addressed, in a way that contributes to mitigating the prejudice that involves the remission of sentences.
