This article analyzes the main benefits of industrial automation in Brazil from an electrical engineering perspective, as well as discussing future prospects for the sector. Industrial automation, through the use of technologies such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, intelligent sensors and robotics, has provided significant gains in energy efficiency, process precision and reduced operational failures. Using a literature review, this study examines the impact of these innovations on Brazilian industries and the challenges faced, such as the need for technological infrastructure and professional training. The results indicate that, although there are economic and structural barriers, automation has the potential to transform the industrial sector in Brazil, promoting greater competitiveness and adaptation to Industry 4.0. The conclusion is that continued investment in automation and the implementation of incentive policies are essential for technological progress in the country.
