COVID-19 has generated important impacts among these peoples and, despite the Special Secretariat for Indigenous Health (SESAI), it is necessary to emphasize that there has been a delay in actions to protect and minimize the impacts caused by the infection among peoples. In this way, significant numbers of indigenous people were infected and died. In this context, this article presents data on COVID-19 among Brazilian indigenous people, especially the cases of deaths. It was observed that the indigenous people were massively affected, despite the fact that the management bodies presented data, which sometimes diverged from those obtained by the entities of the Committee. It is worth highlighting the performance of community entities in monitoring, fighting hard to obtain the real situation of their peoples. It is necessary to take a careful look at the indigenous people, in order to strengthen the territories to face other health crises, in the logic of prevention is better than cure. It cannot be accepted that there is carelessness and lack of investment with traditional peoples, as it would be a serious violation of the human rights of these peoples who are Brazilian historical-cultural heritage.
